Akka Mahadevi was one of the early female poets of the Kannada literature and a prominent person in the Lingayatism sect of Hinduism in the 12th century. Her poems embody the deepest devotion to Siva and point us to the highest reaches of spiritual attainment.
1. ಕಾಯವಿಕಾರಿಗೆ ಕಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದೆ. ವಾಯದ ಸುಖ ನಿನಗೆ ಮುಂದೆ. ನರಕವೆಂದರಿಯೆ. ದೇವರ ದೇವಂಗೆ ವಂದಿಸಹೋದರೆ. ಬಾಯಬಿಡದಿರು, ಕೈವಿಡಿದು ಸೆಳೆಯದಿರು. ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನ ಪಾದಕ್ಕೆರಗುವ. ಭರವೆನಗೆ ಮರುಳೆ. 2. ಕೆಚ್ಚಿಲ್ಲದ ಮರನ ಕ್ರಿಮಿ. ಇಂಬುಗೊಂಬಂತೆ, ಒಡೆಯನಿಲ್ಲದ ಮನೆಯ ಶುನಕ. ಸಂಚುಗೊಂಬಂತೆ, ನೃಪತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ದೇಶವ. ಮನ್ನೆಯರಿಂಬುಗೊಂಬಂತೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೆನಹಿಲ್ಲದ ಶರೀರವ. ಭೂತ ಪ್ರೇತ ಪಿಶಾಚಿಗಳಿಂಬುಗೊಂಬಂತೆ.
