Whistleblower Rights and Protections. Whistleblowers perform an important service for the public and the Department of Justice (DOJ) when they report evidence of wrongdoing. All DOJ employees, contractors, subcontractors, grantees, subgrantees, and personal services contractors are protected from retaliation for making a protected disclosure.
The Commission is committed to protecting whistleblowers' identities. As a general rule, the Commission treats information learned during the course of an investigation, including the identity of sources, as non-public and confidential. There are, however, limits on the Commission's ability to shield your identity.

These people can access the rights and protections in the law from when they report misconduct. The protections also extend to the spouses and relatives of these people. Whistleblowers can provide their name and contact details when they report. They can also report anonymously. The criteria are set out in Table 1.
