She is especially known for the 1927 science fiction film Metropolis directed by her husband Fritz Lang. She would often publish her screenplays as novels. In 1933, Lang fleed Nazi Germany as he was Jewish; whilst she made several Nazi propaganda films. She later married Ayi Tendulkar, a journalist of Indian origin - before dying in 1954.
