Krishnan Nair Shantakumari Chithra (born 27 July 1963) is an Indian playback singer and Carnatic musician. In a career spanning over five decades, she has recorded over 25,000 songs [2] [3] in various Indian languages, [4] [5] as well as foreign languages such as Malay, Latin, Arabic, Sinhalese, English and French. [6] .
Chitra nakshatra is represented by a single star known as Spica (Alpha-Virginis) in the constellation of Virgo. It is one of the brightest stars in the sky. The name Chitra translates as "brilliant." In the astrology chart, Chitra bridges the signs of Virgo and Libra.
Chitra is a one-act play written by Rabindranath Tagore, first published in English in 1913 by the India Society of London. [1] . The play adapts part of the story from the Mahabharata and centers upon the character of Chitrangada, a female warrior who tries to attract the attention of Arjuna.

According to reports, she was with her family at her Saligramam residence in Chennai, when she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was 56.
