Religious Demography. The U.S. government estimates the total population at 5.9 million (midyear 2022). As of mid-2022, 72.5 percent of the mainland Danish population were ELC members according to Statistics Denmark. The Danish government does not collect data on religious affiliation outside of the ELC.
