Watching Strike Me Pink, it's not hard to see why. His routines, honed in vaudeville/on Broadway/on radio and effective in the early sound era, had become tired and listless by 1936. This film, with its hapless hero, plot contrivances and outlandishly farcical finale, reminded me of the vehicles George Formby was making at the same time.

In other words, I'm so surprised by what you've just told me, I'd in theory allow something very odd to happen to me (because it's so unlikely you'd get to do it!)
