The Caltech Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, or SURF, provides undergraduate students pursing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with an introduction to the research process under the guidance of seasoned mentors at JPL and Caltech.
Undergraduate students in physics, astronomy and engineering are invited to participate in the development of gravitational-wave astronomy through the Caltech LIGO Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program.
SURF applications are due on February 22. We will contact the applicant's mentor for a confidential evaluation after the application is submitted. The application contains: An online application; A research proposal written by the student and uploaded to the application; An unofficial transcript for visiting (non-Caltech) applicants

SURF for Caltech International Students. At ISP, we are excited for you to participate in SURF as on-campus employment. No additional work authorization is needed from ISP or from USCIS. If SURF is your first job on campus, you must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification process.
